Cornwall Innovation Centre Launches the Ontario Emerging Jobs Institute
CORNWALL, ON – The Cornwall Innovation Centre held a launch ceremony and brand reveal for its newest project, the Ontario Emerging Jobs Institute.
“After much work and planning with generous partners and supporters, we are thrilled to start offering learning opportunities and empowering 160 students with skills for jobs of the future,” says Kelly Bergeron, Executive Director of the CIC and lead for the OEJI project.
OEJI is a unique offering that has been custom built for residents of Cornwall, Akwesasne and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. Students will train for the growing demand for skilled workers in areas identified as high need.
The Institute will operate with a bootcamp format followed by three-month work placements in four training streams:
Digital Skills: A program designed for anyone looking to gain essential digital skills to succeed in the new economy.
Agritech Skills: A program focused on using technology to enhance food production and farming efficiency.
Business Skills: A program to transform learners into the entrepreneurs and business leaders of tomorrow.
Blended Learning: A program with a blended learning approach for students who want to learning in-person and online.
Enrollment begins immediately through the website’s application portal, as well as the custom-built app (available on the App Store in the next couple of days). The program is open to all Ontarians and is free to all qualified applicants. Scholarships are also available to help cover expenses like travel, childcare or accommodation.
The Ontario Emerging Jobs Institute will officially open its doors to students on January 14, 2019.
