4th Annual Winter Film Series : The Global Banquet
45 Second St W
Cornwall, ON K6J 1G3
Join the Transition Cornwall + Food Action Group for their 4th Annual Winter Film Series hosted in partnership with the Cornwall Public Library. This popular Sunday afternoon film series will cover a range of topics including food marketing and fad diets, permaculture and eco-friendly living, food waste, and the effects of globalization on small farmers. Guest speakers will lead lively discussions after each film to help answer questions and brainstorm new ideas for our community.
The fourth and final film in our series, “The Global Banquet: Politics of Food” examines how corporate globalization of food threatens the livelihoods of small farmers in the U.S. and in developing countries. We see how “free” trade is the route to mounting hunger worldwide despite an overabundance of food.
Homemade soup and light refreshments will be served courtesy of the Food Action Group. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. The Winter Film Series is supported by members of the All Things Food Network, Cornwall Public Library, numerous other organizations, and community volunteers. Those looking to volunteer with Transition Cornwall + are invited to visit www.transitioncorwall.com.
