Summerstown, Ontario – Annie DeRochie was thrilled to be accepted to take part in Ottawa’s 10th Runway For Hope Fashion Show, a Fashion Show which showcases local designers work while raising funds for charities. The show to be held at the EY Centre on Saturday, September 15th is expected to have over 500 people in attendance.

Annie is a recent graduate of Fanshawe College’s Fashion Designer program. She will be highlighting her recent Spring/Summer 2019 Eveningwear Collection, “Nereids” which represents water and mythical beings such as mermaids through flowing fabrics, soft blue hues and hand beaded sequins. Both elegant and fun, her collection is meant for the wearer to feel as if they too were a Goddess of the Ocean. Eight local models will be wearing her dresses including her twin sister, Emilie.

Annie is continuing her studies in the design field by taking Fanshawe’s Post Graduate Technical Costume Production program. She hopes to pursue a career in costuming due to her love of being creative combined with historical clothing.

“I’ve always been interested in creating things and enjoy making costumes of anime and video characters that I admire a lot. These characters and mythologies often inspire my fashion and costuming” explains DeRochie. “I’ve sewn over 20 costumes and have won numerous awards during International Costumers Guild Ranked competitions, most being in the Master Rank.”
