Cornwall Ontario – The Cornwall Colts are ranked 12th in Canada. The Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings were announced this week.
The Colts have jumped out a 9-1-0-1 start (.864 winning percentage) to the 2014-15 CCHL season. Cornwall’s 19 points are second only to the Carleton Place Canadians (12-2 for 24 points) who have played three more games than Colts.
“It’s good to be recognized for the hard work the players have put in so far,” said Colts coach Ian MacInnis. “There’s still a lot of hockey left but this is definitely something to be proud of right now.”
Carleton Place (8th) is the only other CCHL team in the top 20 rankings.
The Colts host the Fred Page Cup Eastern Canadian Championship (April 29-May 2, 2015).
The Colts begin to play their games in hand on the Canadians with three games in four days this week.
Cornwall hosts Smiths Falls Thursday night at 7:30 at the Ed Lumley Arena before playing in Brockville on Friday and Cumberland Sunday night.
