Cornwall Ontario – Guy Lauzon, current Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, has been acclaimed as the Conservative candidate for the next federal election, expected in 2015.
“It has been a privilege and honour to serve the constituents of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry for the past ten years. I continue to have the same energy and passion as I did on Day One,” said Lauzon. “I enjoy the work that I get to do, and I am very proud of our Conservative government’s record both locally and across Canada.”
Lauzon has served as the Member of Parliament in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry since his victory in the 2004 election. Lauzon has improved his vote percentage in each election that he has run in. Most recently in the 2011 federal election, Lauzon captured 62.1% of the vote and a riding record 29,538 votes.
“I will run the next campaign like I always do- campaigning like we are behind by 10,000 votes,” Lauzon continued. “We already have a campaign team, fundraising is ongoing, and I am out every day talking with constituents and voters. We are more ready than ever before for the next election.”
Lauzon has served as the National Conservative Caucus Chair since the 2008 election. In the past, he has held the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, and as Deputy Government Whip.
He and his wife Frances reside in the village of St. Andrew’s West where Lauzon returns to nightly when the House of Commons is in session.
