Future Arts and Culture Centre in Cornwall

Cornwall, Ontario – The City of Cornwall is partnering with Cornwall Tourism and the Art Walk program on July 26 to open the doors at 159 Pitt Street for public viewing.

This opportunity will be the first of many that will occur before renovations begin to convert the classic structure into the Arts and Culture Centre of the City of Cornwall. This and subsequent occasions are designed to gain insight into the possibilities people envision for the Arts Centre. The architectural sketches contained in the feasibility study by VG+ Architects will be displayed, survey forms will be available and plenty of blank paper will be on hand to capture the public’s ideas, caveats and proposals. City staff and members of the Collective for the Centre for the Arts will be on hand to answer questions and facilitate responses.

The June Art Walk was a successful event, showcasing artists working before storefronts along Pitt and Second, from the Cline House to Cailuan Gallery and south along Pitt Street, anchored at the south end by Love Love Food. It is appropriate that the newly purchased future Arts and Culture Centre at 159 Pitt will be part of the next Art Walk as well as the August and October ones. In these early days, before a concrete plan is established, the City will open the space for public perusal whenever possible.
Note that during the municipal election period, from September 3 to October 22, the public will have continuous access to the site.

For more information about the Art Walk, which takes place on Thursday, June 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., please visit Cornwall Tourism’s website: http://www.cornwalltourism.com/local-art-comes-alive-cornwall-art-walk/
