Williamstown Ontario — Few countries possess a folk music tradition as rich as Canada’s. Today Canada is a culturally diverse society as rich and varied as the vast landscape we call home. The consummate hometown girl, Nancy Beaudette is deeply proud of her roots in Eastern Ontario, a place sustained by farming and millwork where French and English languages were friendly neighbours.
As a budding musician who fell head over heels with her first guitar at age 11, she devoured the local tradition of fiddle music from a mingling of French and Celtic influences. “I grew up in a community that loved music and story-telling, and my new CD, ‘South Branch Road’, is keeping that tradition alive. I’m thrilled that my friends and fans in Eastern Ontario will be among the first to hear the new songs.” The CD was produced by well-loved Cornwall Artist Graham Greer, and mixed and mastered in Nashville, TN. You can pre-order the CD at the show.
Nancy will also perform songs from her acclaimed “Fa La La” CD, which has received notoriety and airplay on folk radio stations around the world. “I dust off these old songs when December comes along”, a line from “In Our Home”, couldn’t be truer for Beaudette. She recalls singing carols with her family from a tender age, and it flourished into a lifelong passion and profession. “Fa la la” is a collection of nine original Holiday songs spanning emotions of festive joy, innocence, peace and longing.
Today Nancy is a full-time travelling minstrel, working extensively in Nashville and touring throughout North America. She has 8 CD’s to her credit, and multiple songwriting awards. With guitar in hand, she’ll have everyone in the room singing and smiling!
The event is taking place Saturday, December 6th at St. Andrew’s United Church in Williamstown, ON at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $10.00 at the door.
