Cornwall Ontario — This is a record year for the Annual Juried Exhibition which takes place from April 2nd to May 10th 2013. “63 artists submitted 165 work of art to the Annual Juried Exhibition. It is a record year!”, says Executive Director Sylvie Lizotte.
The next stage of the process is the judging. The jurors are Beverley Wight and Claudine Ascher. Bev Wight is a painter and she has had her work shown in such noteworthy places as Lincoln Centre in New York, and her art has been purchased by The Colart Collection in Montreal. She regularly sits on many art adjudicating committees. Claudia Ascher works in different mediums such as clay, drawing, painting and installation/performance. She is an art teacher and her work has appeared in national and international exhibitions.
It is going to be a tough challenge for the jurors, and it is going to be a busy couple of weeks for Lizotte. She says, “our work is cut-out for the next two weeks, from judging, to recording, to installing, to organizing, to communicating, and then to celebrate the success of the best of the best art and artists. A big thank you from TAG to all the participants.”
The Awards Ceremony for the Annual Juried Exhibition takes place Saturday April 6th at 2pm. The event is open to the public.
The Art Gallery of Cornwall located at 168 Pitt Street is a public art gallery providing programs that aim to cultivate awareness, appreciation and accessibility of the visual arts within the community for its cultural enrichment.
