The Seeker’s new website sees a huge jump in web traffic and Alexa ranking

Cornwall Ontario – A few months ago The Seeker newspaper and website had makeover’s which included a new website URL. Our new website URL is theseeker.ca (we are no longer thelocalseeker.com).

Over the past two months we have been updating the website regularly, improving our social media presence, and the web traffic on our site has exploded. In February we posted 126 articles, and in March we posted 205 articles.

But how do we compare to other local media with our web traffic? A valid question. Alexa is not a perfect measurement or scale, however it is probably the best way to compare different websites.

We currently rank #3 among all Cornwall media in Canada, and rank #2 among all local media with in the City of Cornwall.

This is a truly amazing ranking considering it took us less than two months to surpass Ourhometown, The Cornwall Daily, The Cornwall Seaway News, and Le Journal.

Here is a list of Cornwall’s Top Media Websites in Canada as of March 31st 2013:

Within the City of Cornwall, theseeker.ca is ranked #18 overall, and among all other local media only the Cornwall Free News has a better ranking in Cornwall Ontario at #9, so congratulations to them. With in the City of Cornwall that makes us #2 on Alexa compared to all other Cornwall media.

These rankings are interesting, but they are not the be all and end all. We have been very pleased with our web traffic, and it encourages us to work just that much harder.
