Alexandria Ontario — Alexandria’s infamous Sk8Fest is returning this year on August 9th for its eleventh edition. This year the event will feature 8 bands in tightly woven non-stop incredible musical sets. Doors open at 10 at the Glengarry Sports Palace (170 MacDonald Blvd. in Alexandria) and a plethora of musical styles (From Death metal to Punk, Rap and now DJs) will come together until 10PM. Bands graciously donating their talents for this event are Paolo Stante, Here Comes Bigfoot, Aron The Alien, Monsun, Rydell, The Maysides and Listen Up Kid. Special guest Montreal skateboarding living legend ‘Spoon Bee’ Barry Walsh will be at the event skateboarding and spinning ‘old school’ vinyl. Upcoming DJ ‘GÄÛ’ will be keeping the party going musically for the entire 12 hours with new DJ style music.

Beside the musical acts, this year will feature MANY new ramps built by Alexandria’s Justin Sauve and Matthew Savard. “We have counted 40 ramps and rails so far and we will be building until the day of the event” says Sauve.

This is an event that has grown in popularity and is highly anticipated as an end of summer sk8 and youth gathering. Entry to this fundraising event is only $15 for the entire day. Presale tickets of the event can be purchased in Alexandria at Raage Skateshop until the day of the event. Wristbands will then be available at the Sk8Fest itself when the doors open.

Event organizer Alain Lauzon is really enthused that the event is still a vital part of the community. “MANY local merchants and organizations such as the Alexandria and District Chamber of Commerce help the event because they feel they want to contribute to youth culture and education” says Lauzon. “You certainly don’t have to be a skateborder to enjoy this festival”, says Lauzon, “the quality of the entertainment is phenomenal!”

Proceeds from the event will go toward the next phase of the Alexandria Skate Park.

For more information on what is going on, you can go to www.sk8fest.com. For information on how you or a business can contribute or help the event please contact Alain at info@sk8fest.com or 613-525-5422.

Come out and enjoy a GREAT show!
