I was stunned to see that council did NOT support the development for the $12 million Montreal Road project in the city’s east-end. This development would transform a $98,000 assessed vacant property into a mixed zoned $12.67 million property that would generate $208,000 in taxes, $206,000 more than the current tax revenue. To lose a development project of this magnitude due to the fact that it was a smidgen off the “priority area” despite the fact that other projects have been approved is appalling. Ray-Jans Construction and Mr. Jack Haines will not be pursuing the development any longer and it will be interesting to see in ten years what has been built in its place.

This was a short-sighted decision on council’s part.
