Ottawa Ontario — Ottawa is on lock down this afternoon after 30-50 gunshots have been reported. Streets are blocked, traffic has been redirected, and schools are also on lock down. People in the area have been told to stay away from windows.
There were shootings inside Parliament Hill, the War Memorial and near the Rideau Centre.
Multiple gunmen are suspected, one reportedly shot dead, and two more possibly still on the loose.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper and MP Guy Lauzon are reportedly safe.
One soldier, a reservist from Hamilton, was reported shot this morning and taken to the Ottawa Hospital. The Soldier was reported as dead by Jason Kenney, a senior minsiter of the crown, via Twitter.
Other government offices across Canada have also taken precautionary measures.
Montreal City Hall is closed until further notice.
Earlier this week, Police shot a driver after he ran over two Canadian soldiers in a mall parking lot.

UPDATE : 1:19pm – Prime minister has been briefed by RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson. White house comments being broadcasted at the moment. President Obama has been Briefed about the incident. Prime Minister Harper will speak with Obama later today.
UPDATE 1:57 – CONFIRMED Soldier has died and one shooter has died. Situation is ongoing. All Ottawa public offices are closed. Police is looking for witnesses. 613-236-1222 if you have any information about these events.
UPDATE: Situation fluid and ongoing RCMP, Identity of soldier is not being released at this point.
UPDATE: 4:12 Lock down seems to have been lifted at most Ottawa offices.
