Hawkesbury Ontario — Denny Dubblestyne had a standout game with 31 saves, and the Cornwall Colts beat the Hawkesbury Hawks 3-1.
Hawkesbury’s power play was ineffective against Cornwall’s penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.
The Colts were sparked by Tristen Elie, who had one goal. Elie scored on the power play 16:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Cornwall earned a power play opportunity when Nicholas Centauro was put in the box for head contact. Cal Hofford assisted on the tally.
The Colts’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Hawkesbury power plays.
Cornwall additionally got points from Hofford, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Grant Cooper also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Dean Derouchie, Marly Quince, Nick Lalonde, and Jackson Parker, who contributed one each.
