Ajax Ontario — This was the first time Women’s Baseball was ever played at the PanAM games and Team Canada did not disappoint.
Jenna Flannigan and Team Canada won silver at the 2015 PanAm games this afternoon.
The Canadian Women’s baseball team loss to the USA in the Gold Medal game. The United States squad was the only team able to beat the Canadian Women’s Baseball Team.
The final score for Sunday’s game was 11-3 for Team USA.
The United States had a quick start to the game getting four runs in the first inning. Canada managed to get three runs in the fourth inning, but were unable to rally from the early deficit. The USA quickly responded getting three more runs in the fifth inning and another three runs in the sixth inning. Cornwall’s Jenna Flannigan got one hit and one RBI in the Gold Medal match against the United States.
Canada earned the opportunity to play for the Gold medal with a victory in the bronze medal game. On Saturday Canada defeated Venezuela 6-1 in the Bronze medal game. Canada’s offence exploded in the fifth inning on Saturday with five runs. Venezuela took the bronze medal with the loss, and Canada advanced to the Gold Medal game
against the United States. Jenna Flannigan got one hit in the game against Venezuela.
Winning silver at the PanAm games is a significant accomplishment. Congratulations to Cornwall’s Jenna Flannigan and the rest of Team Canada. Baseball fans in Cornwall Ontario and all across Canada are very proud of your effort! Go Canada Go!
