Cornwall Ontario — Dressing up has always been popular and role-playing, fan expos, and cosplays show costumes are not just for kids anymore. In keeping with this emerging trend, the Centre for the Arts Collective invites everyone to a good old-fashioned costume party on Friday, October 30, at the Cornwall Golf & Country Club. Festivities get underway at 8:00 p.m.
The Collective is planning this first-time Halloween event, and will follow it up in subsequent years around Hallowe’en. The 2015 party is a Hallowe’en celebration, complete with costume competitions and prizes donated by local businesses, trick or treats, courtesy of special sponsor St. Albert’s Cheese, light munchies, decorations by Aline and especially, a spectacular laser light show and music by DJ Shellshock.
The highlight of the evening will be presentation of Lifetime Achievement awards to Edith Stiles, Lionel Tessier and Tom Thompson, in recognition of their enduring support and contribution to the Arts. Future events will honour additional luminaries who have in the past made significant contributions and also recognize those presently enriching the arts scene in Cornwall and area.
This first annual costume party is not to be missed. Eight local businesses have made generous prize donations. Tickets are $25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door. Tickets are available at the Grind and Your Arts Council.
The Centre for the Arts Collective is committed to the establishment of a public arts centre in Cornwall. Proceeds from this event will be deposited into a dedicated account held by the city of Cornwall. Art patrons and supporters who wish to make a personal donation may do so through the Collective/Collectif or directly to the city, and they will receive a charitable tax receipt for any amount donated.
