L’Île-Perrot – August 27, 2018– The Vaudreuil-Soulanges SOUP Festival returns for a 7th edition on Sunday, September 2ndfrom 10am to 3pm, rain or shine, at the Point-du-Moulin Historical Park in Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot.
SOUP stands for Symbol of Openness and Union of People– a gathering that encourages us to get to know one another and appreciate our differences. The SOUP Festival is especially a day of sharing and enjoyment for all, a day of intercultural and intergenerational exchanges.
The SOUP Festival is also an opportunity to win the Golden Ladle Contest, a tasting of soups served by Toqués (professionals) amateur chefs (you, me and your neighbour) and community organizations. But be careful! It’s the festivalgoers who will decide who the Golden Ladle winner is in each category. The soup service is from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Additionally, there will be activities for children of all ages. This year, there will be Irish, Indian, Cuban and Mexican dance performances.
If you need more reasons to come to the festival, here are eight of them:
1- The weather is marvellous at this time of the year. Even if it rains, the rain is still pleasant and warm.
2- The location is magnificent, surrounded by greenery, forest and water. You can walk around, admire the setting and relax.
3- Meetings: You can meet people from all continents; some may become your friends. In any case, you will have an unforgettable day.
4- The cooking: what a pleasure it is to prepare a soup! If you have a garden, did you grow fruits and vegetables that could be turned into a tasty soup for the festival? Once picked, you can prepare them with love, season them and let them simmer.
5- The competition: It’s all good to prepare a soup but now you must present your soup to the festivalgoers, allowing them to savour it, in hopes that they will vote for you to win a Ladle.
6- Sharing: as the quantity of soup to make for the festival can be impressive, invite your friends and family to spend an extraordinary afternoon or evening to help you with the preparations. You will have created your own event filled with enjoyment and sharing.
7- The discovery: as there will be many professional soup chefs at the festival, you may discover a little restaurant where you can feast with friends, your significant other or family.
8- The pride of participating in an activity that brings people of all backgrounds together and sharing, for a whole day, with people who you may otherwise not get the chance to meet. It’s an activity that makes your city proud. It’s your festival.
The entrance to the park, parking, tasting soups and activities are free for all. Please note that because there is food service, pets will not be accepted on the site.
The address of the park, the program and many photos of festivals past are on the website: www.festivaldelasoupe.ca.
Let’s eat soup! We expect to see you there in large numbers on Sunday, September 2nd, from 10am to 3pm.
