If you are tired of seeing your kids’ noses stuck on the screen of their various devices, you’ll want to check this out.

The Optimist Club of Cornwall, under the supervision of Race Master Rick Dore, will be holding their first “Little Rascal Pine Derby Race” and kids 6 to 12 years old are invited to take part.

“It’s a great opportunity for parents or Big Brothers to do something fun with the kids”, said Dore.  “We’re hoping this will become an annual tradition and even grow bigger.”

A pit day was held to allow kids to build and decorate their cars August 25, and some 25 kids showed up, but If you missed it, you still can build a car this Saturday, September 8.  The shop is located at 17615 South Branch Rd.  This is a free event but you should register with the race master as there are only a few cars remaining.

The race will be happening on September 22nd at the Optimist Park, rain or shine. The cost is $10 to enter and includes the car kit and lunch. Winners will take home the coveted trophy and many prizes will be awarded in various categories.  For more details, contact Rick Dore at 360-7116.
