Francophones in Cornwall celebrated St-Jean Baptiste 2018 in grand style. After a week of French activities and French music, the Centre culturel de Cornwall invited all Cornwall residents to visit Lamoureux Park on June 23, 2018 for a night of music and a St-Jean bonfire.
In the pouring rain, we heard the lively music of Nicolas Doyon, Louis Racine, Jocelyn Godin, Jocelyne Turcotte, Claude Champagne, Guy Brisson, “Pépère Jos and his gang” as well as Pierre Doyon and Marc Bissonnette.
The evening ended with a huge St.-Jean bonfire in the middle of Lamoureux Park. Francophones felt at home by finding their place in the city of Cornwall to celebrate their traditions, customs, language and music. A day of celebrations to remind everyone of the importance of Francophones for the City of Cornwall. A magnificent St.-Jean Baptiste that reminds us of our pride in our Francophone heritage. It’s only an “Au revoir” till next year.
Now is the time to celebrate Canada. Happy Canada Day to everyone!
