Cornwall Ontario — Students in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, along with thousands of others across the country, gained valuable skills and work experience this past summer through Canada Summer Jobs, today announced local Member of Parliament Guy Lauzon, on behalf of the Honourable Candice Bergen, Minister of State for Social Development. Canada Summer Jobs helps students gain the skills and experience they need to be successful, now and in the future. This year, Canada Summer Jobs created approximately 35,000 jobs for students, including 91 in the City of Cornwall, SD&G and Akwesasne. Youth benefitted from jobs in a variety of areas, such as recreational leadership, tourism, sales, agriculture, maintenance and business, with not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses across the country. These jobs provided students with tangible experience and money for the upcoming school year, while also helping employers address skills shortages.
