Cornwall Ontario — Thanks to Ryan Gosling Christmas came early to Cornwall. Social media blew up here during an episode of Saturday Night Live.
Ryan Gosling, who was hosting the show, began with a monologue. He was speaking in a Brooklyn accent. He was talking about the joys of being back home in New York for the holidays.
He was interrupted by Saturday Night Live comedian Cecily Strong. That is when Gosling admitted he was actually from Cornwall Ontario. He then joked it might not be the best time to admit that he is an immigrant in the US.
He was then joined by fellow Canadian and SNL alumni Mike Myers. The Austin Powers actor was sporting the blue and white jersey of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The two paid homage to Canada. They made references to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Molson Beer, and musician Justin Bieber. It was music to the ears.
Ryan Gosling, who attended Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational High School, excelled in Dramatic Arts. His acting roles include The Notebook and The Mickey Mouse Club. He also has an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in Half Nelson.
Gosling’s next movie, The Big Short, is coming out later this month.
According to IMBD, the plot of the movie is “Four outsiders in the world of high-finance who predicted the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s decide to take on the big banks for their lack of foresight and greed”. The film also stars Christian Bale and Steve Carell.
In 2016 movie goers can expect to see Ryan Gosling in the film The Nice Guys. La La Land is in post-production and should also be released in 2016.
