Cornwall Ontario (cornwallcolts.com) — Denny Dubblestyne recorded a shutout against the Gloucester Rangers as the Cornwall Colts picked up a 4-0 win.

Cornwall was paced by Jay DAmour, who finished with one goal. DAmour scored 1:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Cal Hofford assisted on the tally.

The Colts managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Cornwall finished below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The Colts’ defensive play was more effective than usual against Gloucester. Cornwall allows 2.8 goals per game. The Colts’ offense rang up 47 shots on the Rangers’ net.

Cornwall additionally got points from Tanner Spink, who also had one goal and one assist, Marly Quince, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Peter Angelopoulos, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Cornwall came via Tristan Conrad and Tristen Elie, who contributed one each.

Gloucester’s offense operated below its season average. The Rangers average 3.1 goals per game. Gloucester kept Cornwall’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Dubblestyne made 36 saves on 36 shots.

The Colts registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. The Rangers’ Doug Johnston stopped 43 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Gloucester incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities
