Cornwall, Ontario – The Cornwall prowlers of the LHSAO league skated on home ice at the Benson Centre for the first time in a regular season game Saturday. The Prowlers coming off a victory to the Cumberland bandits one week before to open their season came out of the gates flying going up 4-0 early in the contest. The Pontiac Comets battled back to make it a 5-3 game heading to the third period. The comets came out in the final period scoring four unanswered goals to steal the home opener from the prowlers 7-5.

Assistant coach and general manager Mitch Gagne stated after the game “we used all the energy from the close to 400 fans in the 1st period and the comets never stopped their foot on the gas pedal for the whole 60 minutes. We had three players battling the flu bug pretty bad. We were very disappointed to see our four-goal lead slip away. We will regroup and be ready to travel to the comets barn on Saturday, October 27th for some redemption”

Scoring in the loss for Cornwall were Jonathan Labelle (2) Sebastien Thinel (2) and Dominic Leveille with one.

Josh Loney stopped 50 of 56 shots for the loss in nets.

Cornwall outshot the Comets 57-56

Next home games for the Prowlers are back to back nights on Friday, November 2nd at 8:30 pm vs Vaudreuil Titans and Saturday, November 3rd at 8:00 pm vs Mont-Laurier.
