Almost a year to the day after the launch of the first version of their app, FanSaves has re-launched with a bigger and better product, one that its co-founders, Shannon Ferguson and Kris McCarthy, are proud of.

The FanSaves app has been completely upgraded and features a brand new, more photo-centric design and a quicker and easier way to redeem deals. Their first version used QR codes for deal redemption but the duo soon learned that this would not help them grow in the way they envisioned.

“Adding our geo-location function for deal redemptions just made sense and it was something we had to do. Patrons can now receive their deals simply by walking into a business, pressing the Redeem Now button and showing their cashier or server” explained Ferguson.

“Through lots of feedback we learned early on that if we wanted to scale across North America, and globally, the QR codes would never work” she added.

Other features that the new app boasts are push notifications to remind you of deals nearby as well as a Team Page that features the team you are following, links to their website, tickets, social media and a map to their arena.

“We’re really helping both the teams and their sponsors get more exposure and the idea is to grow loyalty outside of the rink or stadium, in a way that rink boards and scoreboard ads never could” said McCarthy.

The pair have had meetings with the Ottawa Senators, OSEG (the Ottawa Redblacks, 67s and Fury), the Kingston Frontenacs, the Belleville Senators and more. The app now has 10 teams to choose from including Cornwall Tourism, the Cornwall Colts and teams in Kanata, Kemptville, Brockville, Smiths Falls, Renfrew, Arnprior, West Carleton and Watertown, New York. More teams and deals are being added daily as they continue to scale.

FanSaves is free to download and offers sports fans discounts and deals from the sponsors of their favourite teams.
