The Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce (The Chamber) and the Social Development Council of Cornwall and Area (the SDC) came together on Wednesday, May 25th, to co-host a Provincial Election Debate about issues important to their members. Around 50 members of the public attended this debate geared towards issues faced by local business owners, and residents along with economic and social development concerns.
Subjects addressed included: economic recovery and growth from the effects of the pandemic, labor shortages and provincial economic investments to our community. The Candidates present (seen above) Kirsten J. Gardner, Ontario Liberal Party, Jacqueline Milner, Green Party of Ontario GPO, Nolan Quinn, PC Party of Ontario and Wendy Stephen, Ontario NDP answered 4 questions presented by the Cornwall and area Chamber of Commerce and 4 questions presented by the Social Development Council of Cornwall and Area. Unfortunately Claude Tardif from the New Blue and Remi Tremblay from the Ontario Party were unable to attend.
After the debate there was time for the audience to ask questions and many were eager to get up and do so.
This debate was made possible by the sponsorship from the Cornwall Public Library, where the debate was held and YourTV Cogeco has uploaded it onto their YouTube page where it can be viewed. Here is the link:
