Family Day is upon us once more and with it comes some changes to the services offered by the City.
On Monday, February 20, municipal offices will be closed.
Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by a day. So, if your collection is typically on a Monday, it will be on Tuesday this week, and so on and so forth. The landfill will also be closed on February 20. Click here for the waste calendar.
Cornwall Transit will not be operating on Family Day, and transit offices will be closed.
The Aquatic Centre front desk will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free swims are being offered from 1 p.m. to 1:55 pm and from 2 p.m. to 2:55 pm, sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall. Spots are limited.
Paid swimming will also be available from 3 p.m. to 4:25 p.m.
The Kinsmen Club is also sponsoring free public skating from 10 a.m. to Noon, at Ed Lumley arena. Spots are limited.
The Benson Centre will be open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Cornwall Public Library will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The movie Shrek is being presented in French at 10 a.m. and in English at Noon. Storytime, gaming, the ever-popular floor is lava, an arts & crafts program, and musical chairs are also being offered throughout the day.
As a tie-in with the ongoing Black History Month, the Library will be presenting the Black History Makers of Cornwall Panel. Moderator Stacey Ottley from CUREA will be speaking with Senator Bernadette Clement, City Councillor Fred Ngoundjo, and Citizen of the Year Lee Theodore.
Artwork highlighting body painting culture from Yafa Goawily will be on display.
