Alexandria business pledges $5,000 over five years, while transformative $100,000 gift honours family legacy
ALEXANDRIA — When it comes to caring for the community, KMAC Electric is putting its money where its heart is — and they’re joined by a remarkable gift of love and remembrance that’s bringing the dream of a CT scanner at Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital closer to reality.
The Alexandria-based family business, owned by Kirk and Ryan MacMillan, has made a $1,000 contribution to the HGMH Foundation’s CT Scanner Campaign — the first installment of a five-year, $5,000 pledge through the Foundation’s Business Steps Up initiative.
For the MacMillan family, supporting HGMH is personal.

“Our families have relied on HGMH services for generations and continue to do so today,” they said. “Adding a CT scanner is a meaningful expansion of its diagnostic services, and we’re proud to support an investment that will benefit our community for years to come.”

A mother’s gift of love
In a deeply moving show of support, Edna Lalonde has donated $100,000 to the CT scanner campaign — a gift born from love and a promise to honour those who mattered most.
“My son Claude and my husband Guy have been patients at HGMH. Before they passed away, they received care at this hospital,” Edna shared. “I made a promise that this hospital will remember them. This donation is my way of thanking everyone who took care of them and honouring my son’s and my husband’s memory. Their legacy lives on because of this donation, because many people will receive timely diagnosis from the CT scanner at HGMH.”
Her generosity transforms personal loss into hope and life-saving care for countless patients who will benefit from faster, more accurate diagnoses right here at home.
Building healthier futures together
The CT Scanner Campaign is working to bring advanced diagnostic imaging technology to Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry, meaning better patient care without the need for residents to travel long distances for scans.
Mark Adam, Chair of the HGMH Foundation Board, celebrated both contributions as examples of the community’s commitment to local health care.
“As a family-owned business, KMAC Electric understands the importance of caring for families,” Adam said. “Their multi-year commitment helps support the health and well-being of families in our community today, while ensuring HGMH is ready to meet the evolving needs of families tomorrow.”
Speaking about Edna’s transformative gift, Adam added: “Edna’s donation is a beautiful way to honour her loved ones while supporting the health of our entire community. May this inspire others to consider legacy gifts to the HGMH Foundation, ensuring that families continue to receive exceptional care for generations to come.”
The Business Steps Up program invites local business leaders to become community champions through multi-year commitments to critical health care priorities. Together with major gifts like Edna’s, these contributions are bringing state-of-the-art medical technology closer to home, where it can save lives and strengthen families across the region.
The HGMH Foundation is encouraging other businesses and community members to join the campaign and make a lasting impact on local health care.
