South Glengarry Celebrates Local Excellence with Business and Community Awards Gala

Summerstown, ON – September 12, 2026 – The Township of South Glengarry proudly recognized the recipients of its 2026 Business and Community Awards during a sold-out gala held Saturday evening at the Heritage Golf Club. Local dignitaries, MP Eric Duncan, MPP Nolan Quinn, South Glengarry Council, community leaders, business owners, friends and family gathered to celebrate the outstanding achievements of South Glengarry’s community-nominated award recipients.
The evening, hosted by Master of Ceremonies Allan J. MacDonald, included welcome remarks from MP Eric Duncan, MPP Nolan Quinn and Mayor Lachlan McDonald, all of whom highlighted the importance of recognizing local leadership, entrepreneurship and community service.
Mayor McDonald reflected on the evening, stating, “Always so impressive. A great night to celebrate with friends and family of those who make South Glengarry such a wonderful place to live. Congratulations to tonight’s winners.”
The recipients of the Township’s Business and Community Awards:

• Youth Merit Award – Caedmon Van Putten, presented by Mayor Lachlan McDonald
• Entrepreneur of the Year Award – Shawn Fowler of Jack’s Pub, presented by Councillor Sam McDonell
• Excellence in Agriculture Award – Francis Chretien, presented by Deputy Mayor Lang
• Business of the Year Award – Red Maple Building Corp., presented by Councillor Stephanie Jaworski
• Community Service Award – Ellen Crothers, presented by Councillor Stephanie Jaworski
• Citizen of the Year Award – Malcolm Robertson, presented by Mayor Lachlan McDonald

Each recipient was introduced with highlights of their accomplishments and contributions to South Glengarry and beyond before receiving their award from a member of Council.

The Township is grateful to the sponsors whose generous support helped make this year’s celebration possible and demonstrated their ongoing commitment to community development and local business success.

The Township looks forward to celebrating another year of outstanding South Glengarry residents, businesses and community leaders in 2027. Nominations for the 2027 Business and Community Awards will open next June.
