Cornwall Transit celebrating Canada 150 with $1.50 rides, 150 prizes
Cornwall Transit is celebrating Canada 150 with a day-long celebration featuring $1.50 rides and 150 free prizes for riders.
Wednesday, October 18th will be Canada 150 Day on Cornwall Transit and residents are encouraged to jump on the bus and join in the celebrations.
“We wanted to join in the excitement surrounding Canada 150 and do something special for the community,” said Len Tapp, Transit Division Manager. “This promotion will be a fun way to reward our regular passengers and hopefully attract some new riders.”
To mark the occasion, Cornwall Transit drivers will be wearing Canada 150 hats while welcoming passengers on board throughout the day at a reduced fare of $1.50.
In addition, 150 random passengers will receive a prize bag throughout the day with goodies from Cornwall Transit and numerous local businesses. Wendy’s Restaurant, Olymel, Corus Radio, First Choice/Smart Style Salons and the Cornwall Public Library have all stepped forward as partners in the event.
“It’s shaping up to be a great event and we want to encourage as many residents as possible to jump on the bus and join in the fun,” added Mr. Tapp. “If you haven’t used Cornwall Transit in a while, this is the perfect opportunity to get on the bus.”
The Canada 150 Day on Cornwall Transit is the latest in a series of events held this year in the City of Cornwall to mark Canada 150. A Canada 150 Committee was established by the City of Cornwall to organize various events throughout the year. Some of the events included Hockey Day in Cornwall in February, the Mayor’s Picnic in Lamoureux Park in May, and a Fishing Derby and Children’s Bike Rally in July.
