Aultsville Theatre and thecornwalldaily.com are proud to present Juno Award-winning Blackie & the Rodeo Kings – ‘Kings and Queens’ LIVE at Cornwall’s non-profit, 658-seat Aultsville Theatre Saturday, November 10th at 8:00pm.
This show is the first-ever ‘Aultsville Presents’ and will include special appearances by Amy Helm (daughter of the infamous Band drummer/vocalist Levon Helm) and Canadian Indie icon Mary Margaret O’Hara (Mojo Magazine of the UK has listed Mary Margaret as one of the top 100 ‘cult music’ heroes of all time and her debut ‘Miss America’ as one of the top 100 albums of the 20th Century) and will kick off with Hamilton buzz band Harlan Pepper.
Tickets are $40 (plus tax and applicable surcharges) and are available at the Cornwall Civic Complex Box Office and online at admission.com. (The Aultsville Box Office opens at 7:00pm on the evening of the event)
“The Kings and Queens travelling circus is coming to town”
Now into their second decade, with one JUNO award and several JUNO nominations under their belts, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings (Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing and Tom Wilson) have organically evolved into arguably one of the finest roots-oriented bands in North America. They have released seven CDs and gradually developed a musical brotherhood manifested in a groove, blend and melodic/rhythmic play that is distinctive, mystical, energizing and constantly evocative. Blackie and the Rodeo Kings have become and remain one of Canada’s greatest musical treasures.
Following the success of their March 2012 Massey Hall show in Toronto, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings were proud to announce the Kings and Queens Tour, named for the band’s impressive collaboration album entitled ‘Kings and Queens’ and hitting stops all across North America. The release paired the band with some of their favorite female singers and friends – and some of the biggest names in roots, blues and jazz – Roseanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Pam Tillis, Serena Ryder, Lucinda Williams, Cassandra Wilson, Amy Helm, Janiva Magness, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Sam Phillips, Sara Watkins, Exene Cervenka, Patti Scialfa and Holly Cole. Some of the album’s Queens and other close friends will be making special guest appearances throughout the tour performing LIVE with Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.
