Quality and unique style are evident in the fashion product offerings of Tricot Treat Imports, a new Cornwall based business recently opened by the husband and wife team Yilmaz Acar and Shannon Trudeau.

The couple import exquisite Turkish fashion accessories and currently operate an online store through their website www.tricottreatimports.com. They can also be found conducting business at various flea markets and vendor fairs in the region.

Mr. Acar studied textile design in his native Turkey before starting his life in Canada with his wife Shannon Trudeau, a former federal public servant who previously worked on State Ceremonies and administered the Government of Canada Gift Bank.

The couple moved to Cornwall in March of this year and decided to open their own online business after receiving a multitude of complimentary comments about the beautiful scarves Ms. Trudeau wore, all of which she had received as gifts during her frequent trips to Turkey. They felt that there was a demand for that same quality and fashion style here in Canada.

“The hand-made scarves are from a little shop located in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul and they are particularly special because they are unique traditional Turkish scarves,” said Ms. Trudeau.

Mr. Acar explained that together he and his wife carefully select each piece so that they offer clients only the best style, originality and beauty.

“Our winter scarves are imported from a famous Turkish name brand and are soft, warm and comfortable to wear. All of our scarves and shawls make excellent gifts for any occasion.”

As their business grows, so will their inventory. With an eye on expanding their business, they plan to establish a boutique that also offers Turkish home decor items, such as hand-made table cloths, household linens, cushion covers, cotton towels and more.

“Mr. Acar and Ms. Trudeau are using their skills together to create a business for themselves which is in the true spirit of entrepreneurism,” said Candy Pollard of the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre. “Their product offering is unique, attractive and functional. We look forward to watching their business grow.”

All of Tricot Treat Imports products are featured on their website, where you can order and use their secure payment methods, making it easy to shop from the comfort of your own home. Check them out at www.TricotTreatImports.com
