December 11, 2012 – Kevin Hargreaves has been named President of the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce. The announcement was made by the Chamber’s outgoing President, Rick Shaver at its year end transitional meeting. “I’m pleased with the confidence the Board has given me and I’m looking forward to the Chamber’s opportunities and challenges for the upcoming year,” declared Hargreaves.
Joining Hargreaves on the Executive Committee are Nada Kovinich, 1st Vice President; Jodi Hawkshaw, 2nd Vice President; Paul Desnoyers, Treasurer, and the Chamber’s Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. Shaver remains as Past President and Chair of the Board. The President and Board were sworn in by Mayor Bob Kilger.
President elect Hargreaves, previously the Chamber’s Treasurer, owns and operates, along with his wife, Wendy, Kelsey’s Restaurant. He looks forward to the upcoming year with enthusiasm.
“As a Board, we will be looking at a number of issues that have the potential to impact the business community and community at large,” he reports. “The location of the toll booth and Customs have yet to be finalized, there are continuing pressures on the region’s independent school bus operators, and of utmost importance will be the municipal budget.”
The new Board and Executive commence their duties today.
