Our “Free Admission” Signature Winter Festival will feature numerous activities in 2013 with the main event of this year being David Whysall “Team Canada” International Fireworks launching on the 15th, 16th and 17th. Three consecutive nights of Spectacular Fireworks is a first for the City of Cornwall and it is also a true reflection of the positive growth the festival has encountered. 2012 attendance was an astounding 23,000!

The “Ceremonial Puck Drop” of the “Cornwall Colts Winterfest Hockey Game” on Thursday February 14th will mark the official beginning of Cornwall Winterfest. The Colts host the Carleton Place Canadians at the Ed Lumley Arena, Cornwall Civic Complex – 7:30PM.

The Opening Ceremonies will take place from 4PM to 8PM in Lamoureux Park on Friday February 15th and Festivities continue on both Saturday and Sunday from 12PM to 7PM with a full slate of free activities throughout each day.

As a new format for this year’s Festival, our community will celebrate the Winterfest Family Day Monday February 18th with free activities taking place throughout the City. A full calendar of events will be released and will be found by visiting www.cornwallwinterfest.com.

The Winterfest Volunteer Board of Directors/Committee is comprised of Chair: Jason Mitchell, Vice-Chair: Davey Bedard, Treasurer: Jessica Adams, Secretary: Lucie Hart, Past-Chair: Rodney Rivette, Director: Councillor Syd Gardiner, Director: Kimly Thivierge and Director: Kent Deshane. Over 100 Volunteers take part in Winterfest yearly and thousands of hours go towards the creation of the Festival.

Winterfest has 70 Partner/Sponsors for 2013. “Storm Realty Cornwall” is the “Title Sponsor” for the third year in a row, other major contributing Sponsors include the City of Cornwall, Children’s Aid Society, Supply Chain Management, Bell Canada and the Kinette Club of Cornwall. 2013 Media Partners include Seaway News, Cornwall Express, Corus Entertainment, TVCogeco, Standard-Freeholder and the Local Seeker. Winterfest would not remain a free admission/free activity festival without the support of all its partners and will work diligently to ensure the festival remains free of charge for decades to come.

2013 activities include: Team Canada Fireworks, Cornwall Square Outdoor Big Rink, Wagon Rides to Cornwall Community Museum for Apple Cider, Public Skating, Concerts, Cornwall Colts Super Skills Competition, Yves Houle Inflatable Midway, Great North Figure Skating Show, Maple Taffy, Winterfest Movie, Home Depot Workshop, Penguin Lane, Children Entertainers, Jag Woodworking, Crafts, Animal Balloons, Face Painting, Tony Lee Magic Show, Let’s Talk Science, Sub-Zero Winterfest Dance Party, Acoustic Showcase, Bouncing Beans, Hot Chocolate, Public Swims, Rudy Tabak Mini Trains, Winterfest Bowling, Little Tots Corner and Polar Bear Paws to name a few!
