Ottawa, ON- Guy Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, is pleased to highlight that today Statistics Canada announced that 50,700 jobs were created in February.
“This continued job growth is a positive sign that our Economic Action Plan for economic growth, job creation and long term prosperity is working,” said Lauzon, “our Government understands that the economy matters most to Canadians, which is why it remains our number one priority.”
February’s strong job growth and the over 950,000 net new jobs created since the depth of the global recession in July 2009 (90% full-time and nearly 80% private sector), are positive signs that we’re on the right track for Canada’s economy. Indeed, Canada has the best job growth record among all G-7 countries in recent years.
“During my pre-budget consultations, I constantly heard from the constituents of SD & SG that they want to see job creation and economic growth” said Lauzon, “That’s why our Economic Action Plan 2013 will build on the progress we have made with positive pro-growth initiatives, keeping taxes low and returning to balanced budgets.”
Nevertheless, as we have said repeatedly, Canada is not immune to global economic challenges from beyond our borders. We have been and will continue to be impacted by ongoing turbulence in the US and Europe – among our most important trading partners. That is why we must stay on track by implementing our Economic Action Plan.
