Cornwall Ontario — Judging from the comments from both visitors and exhibitors, the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Spring Home & Leisure Show was an unqualified success. Thousands of area residents flocked to the event and had the opportunity to check out the latest in home improvement products and services from more than 100 exhibitors.
“We were really pleased with the turnout and the wonderful exhibits,” reports Amy Malyon, Chamber Assistant Executive Manager and Show Coordinator. “I had the opportunity to speak with a number of visitors and without exception they enjoyed the show and the wide variety of things to see.”
The event itself featured many demonstrations including great recipes, swimming pool care and an important one about the emerald ash borer, that threatens to decimate the ash trees throughout the region. The kids corner was abuzz with tapping as the little ones made bird feeders as well as having their faces painted. Then, there was the 94.7 Hits/96.5 Wild Country and Summerheights Golf Links long drive championships that saw lively competition with both guys and gals..
A perennial highlight of the Show was the valuable prizes that some lucky visitors could win and this year was no exception. The 2013 Spring Show prize winners were:
- A pair of round trip tickets from Cape Air to Boston won by Carol Phillips
- A pair of round trip tickets from Cape Air to Boston won by Margaret Maybank
- A Massarelli Tiki set from Cornwall Concrete won by Brian McQuaig
- A Bremsley Ambion Treadmill from St. Lawrence Pools won by Laura Ross
The Chamber will now set its sights on next fall when it will present its returning Fall Home & Harvest Show.
