Cornwall Ontario — Saturday April 27th is the Partir de Bon Pas’ Annual Volunteer Banquet at the Civic Complex. The primary prevention agency is in it’s nineteenth year of existence. According to event organizer Lucie Hart, “We work with children, families, and the community. We have stuff like breakfast programs, and we make it so young children like school, and do not want to drop-out later. We even have programs for preschoolers”.
“The banquets theme is beach party and will be the 19th for us, we believe it is very important to recognize the efforts of the community and the time they give so unselfishly Our volunteers give of themselves for National Child Day, the Winterfest Carnaval, the Haunted Jail, La cabane a Sucre, Racing Against Drugs, and our yearly bazaar just to name a few. We could not accomplish all these wonderful events without our volunteers”, says Lucie Hart, a community organizer for Partir dun bon pas.
Partir dun bon pas are a prevention program and their mandate is to better the lives of children, families and the community that surrounds them.
Hart describes some of the programming they do, “We have so many programs available to the community, like a drop in centre for moms and tots, come learn French with me, a family maths program, and a family outing group all offered in French. We also have many programs in the schools, animators, breakfast program, tutoring and welcome camp.”
