Update April 3rd – Congratulations to Rod McLeod and Cornwall Girls Minor Hockey – winners of $20,000 from Kraft!!
Cornwall Ontario — The Cornwall Girls Hockey Association and the City of Cornwall are partnering to host a viewing party on Wednesday, April 3rd for the results of the Kraft Hockey Goes On contest.
Residents are welcome to attend the party on Wednesday evening in Salon B of the Cornwall Civic Complex and watch as the winners of the Hockey Goes On contest are announced during the second intermission of the NHL game between Montreal and Philadelphia on TSN. The party will get underway at 7 pm and there will be popcorn and refreshments available.
Cornwall girls hockey coach and community volunteer Rod McLeod is one of the 100 finalists in the contest, which celebrates and recognizes local hockey supporters across the country. The top five nominees will win a grand prize of $100,000 for their selected Minor Hockey Association, while another 20 nominees will win $20,000 for their selected Minor Hockey Association.
“The fact that Mr. McLeod was selected as a finalist in this national contest is a big accomplishment in itself,” said Marc Campeau, Junior Director with Cornwall Girls Hockey Association. “Regardless of the outcome, we feel we’re already a winner for having Mr. McLeod.”
Residents were invited to vote for their favourite nominee during the weekend of March 23rd and 24th.
“Cornwall is fortunate to have a large number of volunteers who give their time to make our community a better place, and Mr. McLeod is a perfect example of this,” said Mayor Bob Kilger.
