Cornwall Motor Speedway and Storm Realty Sales Representative Tracy Wheeler are proudly sponsoring the 2nd Annual Big Brother Big Sister Night at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. The special event for the “Littles” will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
The event will offer an opportunity for the children and youth enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall and District’s mentoring programs to get a close-up view of local stock car racing.
“The children from Big Brothers Big Sisters get a tour of the pits on the Wendy’s Fun Bus, “said Cornwall Motor Speedway General Manager Carol Flanagan.
Real estate agent Tracy Wheeler sponsors local stock cars and supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall and District. When Wheeler approached Flanagan and Ron Morin at Cornwall Motor Speedway about forming a partnership to create a night just for the Littles, they were more than happy to help.
“We want to give back to the community,” said Flanagan. “This way, we get to help Tracy out and help out the community.”
Flanagan and the Cornwall Motor Speedway will donate embroidered Cornwall Motor Speedway hats to the kids and cover the cost of admission and the snack bar. Littles will be seated in their own special section and invited into the pit to meet the drivers, obtain autographs and have their pictures taken with them.
“It’s great to give the kids new opportunities and experiences. Some of the kids maybe have never been to the speedway before,” said Wheeler.
Wheeler has been a big supporter of community efforts such as Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs because she recognizes the need for more positive role models for children in our community.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall and District offers seven free mentoring programs to area children and youth in need between the ages of six and sixteen. For more information on volunteering and sponsorship opportunities, please call 613-933-8035 and ask for Amanda or email [email protected].
