Fashion Show BoombasticCornwall Ontario — Senior students will be walking down the runway this month. Grade 12 students from St. Lawrence Secondary School will be hosting a Fashion Show titled Boombastic, a culminating activity for their hairstyling class.

“It’s a really good experience to build a bridge from community to school,” said Brooke DeLong, hairstyling teacher at the local high school. “It gives them a chance to showcase their skills and abilities as well, which is very important. They’ve come together as a team.”

The event is all student-run from make-up, hair, organization, merchants, and model searching. Local merchant stores such as Winners, Maurice’s, Echo-Trends, Bridal Dreams, Value Village, Sears, Urban Trade and Kastner’s will be having clothes showcased by the students. A live student DJ will be in attendance as well.

“The main goal is to raise enough money for the Children’s Treatment Centre,” said Michaela Wheeler, student organizer of the event. “It’s also to gain confidence, have fun and to give back to the community,” Wheeler said.

The event takes place on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Saint Lawrence Secondary School, 1450 Second Street East and starts at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $4 and there will also be a 50/50 draw taking place in the evening. All proceeds raised will go towards the Children’s Treatment Centre.
