Len Tapp Cornwall TransitCornwall Ontario — Cornwall Transit will once again be celebrating Clean Air Day on Wednesday, June 5th by offering free rides to the public.

The Clean Air Day free ride event has grown to become one of Cornwall Transit’s most popular promotions, with over 6,000 free rides being provided during last year’s event.

“The goal of Clean Air Day is to raise awareness of environmentally-friendly activities that promote clean air and good health, and public transit is a good example of that,” said Transit Manager Len Tapp. “It’s a great opportunity for residents to try our convenient and reliable service first-hand, free of charge.”

In addition to being an affordable transportation alternative, Mr. Tapp said Cornwall Transit buses also have a number of environmentally-friendly features such as bike racks and regeneration systems that reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

“Last year, we received a lot of positive comments from the public, including many first-time riders,” said Mr. Tapp. “We’re hoping this event will be a first step towards getting more people to use Cornwall Transit on a regular basis.”

This will mark the seventh year that Cornwall Transit has participated in the Clean Air Day initiative.

As part of the event, Cornwall Transit will have ‘Mystery Riders’ who will be randomly handing out 10-ride tickets throughout the day.
