MPP Jim McDonellCornwall Ontario — MPP Jim McDonell was not surprised by the announcement of an NDP-Liberal deal on the provincial budget: “The McGuinty-Wynne Liberals have demonstrated time and time again that they are desperate to cling to power at any cost. Whether it is cancelling power plants to save four seats or shutting down the Legislature, there is no limit to the amount of money this Government will spend, as long as it keeps them in power. Today’s deal with the NDP condemns the Province to more debt while six hundred thousand Ontarians will wake up tomorrow without a job to go to.”

MPP McDonell insists Ontario can and must do better: “The sooner we change course to a Government that manages the Province’s finances responsibly, lives within its means and respects taxpayer’s dollars by ensuring quality health care, education and infrastructure, the sooner Ontario’s recovery can begin. Unlike the Liberals, preoccupied only with buying union support, and the NDPs succumbing to being bought by the Liberals at the expense of our Province’s future, the Ontario PCs have outlined a path to job creation, prosperity and affordable living for all Ontarians.”

MPP McDonell highlighted the priorities of an Ontario PC Government: “I remain determined to build a government that we can afford and protects the things we value most. We will fight for less spending, an affordable public sector, lower taxes, affordable energy, modernized labour laws and less regulation. In order to achieve this change and bring accountability back to the Government of Ontario, we need to change the team that leads it. Today’s deal enables the Liberals to kick the can down the road while our Province suffers. The people of Ontario deserve better.”
