QUEEN’S PARK – The McGuinty-Wynne Liberals have been caught in another lie and this time it’ll cost Ontario taxpayers another $310 Million, Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MPP Jim McDonell said today.
The CEO of the Ontario Power Authority revealed today the cost of scrapping the Oakville gas plant was $310 Million.
OPA CEO Colin Anderson made the startling revelation during his testimony at a justice committee hearing into the government’s decision to cancel the plants in Oakville and Mississauga just before the 2011 provincial election.
“That’s almost eight times more than the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals had been telling hard working taxpayers,” said MPP McDonell.
“Combine that with the $275 Million that has been tagged to the Mississauga plant and taxpayers are on the hook for well over half a billion dollars. Enough is enough,” MPP McDonell concluded.
The Ontario PC Caucus tabled a non-confidence motion in the Legislature and are requesting a debate, presenting supporting petitions from Ontarians.
