Matthew HeadshotWondering how to keep your children busy and active this summer?
For youngsters who are interested in the performing arts, the summer is a great time to improve their skills or to simply have fun exploring new ideas and making new friends. Whether it’s for a creative, active youngster looking to do something new or one already interested in the performing arts, Centre Stage Performing Arts Camp is a great way to spend at least part of their summer.
Owners Matthew Villemaire and Elizabeth Denis are well known to the community having performed in several local amateur productions while growing up in Cornwall. Both pursued their love for performance in their post secondary education – Matthew is a graduate of Musical Theatre Performance at Sheridan College while Elizabeth obtained her Bachelor of Arts with a major in music at the University of Ottawa.
“As a music teacher with the Upper Canada District School Board and having taught performing arts at Tollbar Academy in the UK, I have witnessed many children develop a great deal of confidence through performing,” said Ms. Denis. “Our goal with Centre Stage Performing Arts Camp is to immerse children in authentic performance experiences including singing, acting and choreography, and to build their confidence, all while having fun. After all, it is summer break.”

The camp will offer 5 days of instruction, outdoor activities and games, script writing, set making, arts & crafts and will provide a finale performance at the end of the week open to family and friends.

There are many different aspects of theatre from on stage performance through to back stage requirements and the technical side that we plan to explore. Every day will bring something new and interesting for our participants.”

Centre Stage Performing Arts Camp will operate from Knox St. Paul Hall offering six different one week sessions from July 8th through to August 16th.
