Cornwall.ca — Cornwall Transit is making some minor fare adjustments to its monthly passes and 10-Ride Cards.
Beginning May 1st, monthly passes will increase to $62 for adults and $40 for seniors while student passes will decrease slightly to $52. Also, 10-Ride Cards will increase to $22 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. The regular cash fare of $2.75 will remain the same.
“Fare increases are necessary from time to time in order to offset the costs of the transit service,” said Mr. Tapp. “Our fare prices compare favourably with other similar-sized transit operations in the province.”
Cornwall Transit is also changing its policy for transfers. Beginning May 1st, bus transfers will no longer have a one-hour expiry time. Bus transfers will now be intended to let passengers complete their trip in one direction by transferring buses at the main interchange at Pitt and Second Streets. Also, transfers will expire at the time of transfer.
“There has been some confusion about the use of transfers so we wanted to make the system as fair and as simple as possible,” said Len Tapp, Transit Division Manager.
The change in policy will be monitored closely for areas of special needs and consideration.
For frequent passengers, Mr. Tapp notes that monthly passes and 10-Ride Cards continue to present a savings over the traditional cash fare.
“We also have a Family Day Pass that allows a family of 5 to use the bus as much as they’d like in a single day,” said Mr.
Tapp. “It’s a great offer.”
