Cornwall Ontario — It’s one of Cornwall’s most distinguished affairs. It’s the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence and Citizen of the Year Awards banquet and the deadline for nominations is fast approaching.

“Nominations for the various awards have been coming in and once again, there are a number of candidates,” reports Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. “That said, it’s important to us that no worthy firm or individual is overlooked and we want to remind the community that the nominations deadline Friday, January 24.

The Awards Banquet has been the Chamber’s most distinguished affair for over 25 years. Dozens of firms and individuals have been recognized for excellence in the Cornwall area’s business sector with others honoured for outstanding contributions to the community as a whole.

“One of the key individual awards is the Citizen of the Year and more than 40 members of our community have been honoured with this prestigious award,”continues Strasser. “It is given annually to someone whose selfless commitment to the community and its people has made Cornwall a better place to work and to live.”

For details about the Business Excellence Awards, Strasser suggest people visit the Chamber web site at cornwallchamber.com. Nomination forms along with awards detail may also be picked up from the Chamber office at 113 Second Street East. “I hope that anyone who knows of a deserving firm or individual take the time to submit a nomination. It is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Cornwall to salute those in our community who have made a positive difference.”
