CORNWALL – The Cornwall River Kings and Braves rivalry heated up on Friday night in Laval. Cornwall skated to a wild 8-1 road victory in LNAH action.

Nicolas Corbeil scored twice to lead the River Kings attack and Julien Corriveau chipped in with a goal and three assists. Cornwall’s powerplay exploded for 5 goals on the evening. With the win, the River Kings improved to 12-13-4 on the season.

Francis Lessard, Jean-René Forget, Simon Desromeaux and Chris Cloutier set the tone for the River Kings early on, each dropping the mitts in the opening 10-minutes of play. In all, 204 penalty minutes were handed out in the fight-filled contest.

Braves coach, and former River Kings enforcer, Dannick Lassard made sure his troops didn’t go down without a fight in the third period. At one point, Lessard tried to make his way over to the Cornwall bench.

Ryan Jardine, Pierre-Luc Faubert, Sasha Pokulok, Dominic Chiasson and Forget also scored for Cornwall, which outshot Laval 47-41. In total, nine River Kings had multiple point efforts.

Loic Lacasse earned the win in goal for the River Kings with a 40-save performance.

Cornwall hosts Laval on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Civic Complex in what promises to be an entertaining evening. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
