Cornwall, Ontario — For the first time ever, Focus Art as a group will collectively hold an exhibit at the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery. The show, themed “Summer in the City”, is a summer celebration of Visual Arts and will feature a variety of works by veteran and new members of the organization.
The public is invited to participate by coming to vote for their favourite piece, attend a workshop, witness Art in Progress, visit our gift shop or simply take in all the beauty and colours of summer art. The exhibit takes place from July 8 to July 26 and is opened Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm. In addition, a formal Vernissage (July 9) will give members of the community the opportunity to meet the artists.
Various workshops will be offered throughout the event. “We want people to come and experience art”, said Linda Geisel, vice-chair and organizer. “Workshops are very affordable and can be taken by experienced artists or beginners. We have watercolor, drawing, sculpture, graffiti and tile painting to chose from. It will be quite interesting. Everyone is welcome!”
On July 12, a follow up to “High Five for the Arts”, an event which took place at Pommier Court a few weeks ago, will gather in front of the Gallery as part of the three-week long event. Live musicians will also be part of the celebrations.
Focus Art is an organization who promotes the visual arts, especially painting, photography, pottery, sculpture in the area of Eastern Ontario, in English as well as in French.
