Roma’s Restaurant may very well be one of the best Take-out in Cornwall. The food is absolutely delicious! Prices, very reasonable. So, Mary Rose and myself met with owners, Jimmy Roussakis and Manuel Roussakis to get their take on the establishment. Turns out, Roma’s has been at this location on 200 McConnell since the year 2000. These are a couple charming, charismatic brothers from Greece. Jimmy tells us of his love for Greece and cooking. He told us he immigrated here in 1971, with just $99 in his pocket, and, how, to this day, he owns 1 house here in Cornwall and 2 houses in Greece, next to the sea on the island of Karpathos. With him, he has brought the great work ethics he was raised with. He said his father raised him and his brother to work hard and be good at what they do, and success will follow. Success, Cornwall!
Upon entering the restaurant, there’s the feel of Greek hospitality and pride. Small and cozy. Jimmy said that most customers buy Take-out or Delivery. There are plenty of tables and seating available to choose from. They have a wide variety on the menu such as Italian, Greek, Canadian food, as well as the usual favourites such as Hamburgers Hot Dogs, Sandwiches, Fries, Poutine, and so much more. There’s something for everyone on the menu.
On this day, I ordered the Pork Souvlaki Greek Dish; Mary Rose, a Chicken Pita. The pork souvlaki was very tender and they put extra tzaziki sauce on the side for me. The Greek salad was a good size and was one of the best I’ve ever eaten, with plenty of feta cheese and tomatoes–not just saturated with lettuce & onions, as so many other restaurants typically do. This food was authentic. Delicious. Mary Rose and myself both were very happy with our meals. It was, overall, a great experience. And I would recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t eaten there before, if you want to try something new and exciting, for a change of pace.
