Ice Bucket Challenge

Cornwall Ontario — Mayor Bob Kilger, Councillor David Murphy, retired Cornwall police officer Thom Racine and long-time local sports volunteer Rod McLeod participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Friday morning. The foursome were challenged by local sports volunteer and respected community member Brian Tardiff, who is battling ALS. The challenge took place near the entrance to the Benson Centre, home of the Cornwall Girls Hockey Association which Mr. Tardiff has been involved with for over 25 years.

The mild-mannered Mr. Tardiff was on hand and all smiles as his friends were doused with ice cold water. Before getting soaked, the foursome issued challenges of their own. Mayor Kilger, for one, challenged MP Guy Lauzon, MPP Jim McDonell and United Counties Warden and North Dundas Mayor Eric Duncan. “We’re going to keep the momentum going,” the Mayor said.

As of Friday, the Ice Bucket Challenge had raised over $2.4 million for ALS Canada. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.als.ca/icebucketchallenge.
