VIKINGS DEFEAT GAELS IN SPIRIT DAY
For their first competitive game of 2014-15, the Vikings men’s rugby team could not have asked for a better result against local rival Queen’s University, winning the match 24-7 in-front of a great SLC crowd. Despite being scored on early, the Vikings bounced back to regain the lead, and never looked back. Click here for the full post-game summary.
VIKINGS SOCCER HOME OPENER
The SLC women’s and men’s soccer teams opened their 2014-15 regular season at home on Saturday September 6thagainst the Durham College Lords. The women’s team would feature great offensive pressure by the Vikings, but were forced to settle with a 0-0 draw. In the men’s game, SLC would be the victim of an unfortunate bounce that lead to their 1-0 defeat. To read more about the women’s game, click here, or here for the men’s game recap.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
First year goalkeeper for the Vikings women’s soccer team, Samantha Turcotte, is the first SLC Athletics & Recreation Athlete of the Week of 2014-15. Sam made several saves in her first Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) match, including an impressive diving save late in the game on what would have been a great shot to the top corner of the net. Her performance helped preserve a 0-0 draw against the Durham College Lords.
The Vikings will hit the road for their next two games, facing Centennial College on Saturday September 13, and Seneca College on September 14.
