10628039_10152746873311974_7738859655908727279_nCornwall, Ontario – SASS and Agapè Centre have partnered to host a new fundraising event.

Cornwall and area women are invited to come and mingle, eat, drink, and swap instead of shop in support of two local organizations, on Friday, October 24th from 7 to 10pm at the Agapè Centre.
“We just wanted to have a fun women’s only night out that supports two great organizations in our community” said Trudy Watt, volunteer coordinator for Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS) of SDG&A.

In order to attend, guests must bring a minimum of 10 items to the Agapè Centre reception desk by Wednesday October 22. And then on the night of the swap, everyone can take home as many pieces as they brought – for free!

“Swapping clothes and fashion items is a great and guilt-free way to get rid of things that don’t fit anymore or that we don’t use, and add new things to our wardrobe for free,” said Kendra Smith, Volunteer Coordinator of the Agapè Centre.
Glam Swap pieces can include clothes, jewelry, purses, shoes and accessories in good condition that are quality, trendy, fashionable or classic. Event organizers ask that all clothing be freshly laundered.

“We’re asking for trendy and classic pieces as all of the remaining items will stay at the Agape Centre,” said Watt.

“We also wanted to give people a taste of what makes shopping in our thrift store so great, “added Smith. “We’re hoping people will experience the thrill of finding an incredible item that may not be new, but it’s new for you.”
A $25 ticket will get you entry to the event, appetizers by Love Love Food, two drinks and a chance to win a door prize.
There will also be a silent auction, with some fantastic items, including a genuine Coach purse, local art, gym memberships, spa treatments, a night at the Best Western, and more.
And in case that wasn’t enough, as an added bonus local firemen will be serving guests all night long!
The event will be held in the St. Columbans room, upstairs at the Agapè Centre, and there will be a separate display area for the shopping, and a changing area will also be available.

Only 75 tickets are available, and can be purchased online (http://agapecentre.ca/events/glam-swap/) or at Scotiabank on Brookdale Avenue in Cornwall.

All funds raised will be shared between both community agencies.
Visit the event Facebook page (www.facebook.com/events/1438625846386432/) for updates, and photos of auction items, or swap items, as they come in.
